Scrambling Right Along – A Few Words for Participants
Posted: September 20, 2011 Filed under: Mobile Bay Scramble 3 Leave a comment »We’re about a week away from the deadline (Monday Sept 26 at 8pm) and I wanted to check in and see who all intends to submit a film and make sure no one has any questions.
We actually had what was easily our biggest sign-up yet! Now it’s time to see who is actually going to pull it off. Please let me know ( editor@modmobilian.com ) whether you intend to submit one this go-round or not. Thanks!
Looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with. Feel free to get in touch with me if you have questions that are not answered on the sign-up sheet or below.
Since the kickoff, a few questions have come up, so I figured I’d share the answers with you here and now.
Can I use music that I don’t have the rights to?
You can do whatever you want! Using music you don’t have the rights to may prevent your entry from being included in future screenings and/or dvd compilations, but doesn’t affect it’s eligibility in this scramble.
Does this have to be scary?
You can do whatever you want! I’d love it if all of them were actually scary, but I won’t be surprised if my favorite of the night is someone doing something clever that’s Not Scary.
Is there a penalty for going over the time limit?
The assignment was to create a work shorter than six minutes and thirty one seconds.
Going over the time limit will disqualify your entry from being voted on. I don’t expect to end up with thirtysomething entries, but if we do start running up against a time problem, anything exceeding the time limit will be the first to get cut from the screening- which i would hate to do, but this is precisely why the time limit is what it is; to allow time to screen everyone’s.
That’s not what i meant!
If you turn your film in late, it will not be screened.
When is the next Film Scramble? What will it be about?
Looks like it will be either in early December or early January. I may put it to a vote?
Some interesting ideas about what it should be, but undecided. If you have ideas for a film scramble, send them to me – I would love to hear them.
